Local Government in Wales and Nature Based Solutions

Dunraven Bay, Wales, sunrise
Event organised by Swansea University - HRC School of Law (hybrid, Swansea University)

Join Swansea University - HRC School of Law to explore the role of local authorities in supporting nature-based solutions in helping to address some of the most pressing challenges facing local communities and the natural environment.

This event will launch a report by Dr Victoria Jenkins, funded by UK Research and Innovation, on integrating approaches to sustainable peatland management in policy and practice in local authorities in Wales.

Peatland management and restoration is just one of a number of ‘nature based solutions’ that local authorities can support to help build ecological resilient networks in Wales and meet the challenges of the climate crisis. This project highlights the significance of these activities to the core functions of local authorities as well as opportunities to develop policy and practice and attract both public and private funding. It also investigates ways of partnership working between public authorities and/or the third sector.

Whilst the morning will be devoted to speaker presentations the afternoon will involve a more interactive session with participants to gain your views on these important issues.

This is a free event. Book your ticket via eventbrite.

Online access will be available for the morning session only
Funding for travel and subsidence is available on a priority basis for participants wishing to attend in person (please specify whether you wish to apply for this funding when registering your attendance).
